Long time no see!

It's been a while since I have been on here.  I have missed blogging!  I went back the other night and re-read most of my posts and looked through my pictures and am so thankful that I was able to capture details in my life to remember.  I could still recall every emotion I was feeling as I wrote each post.

I felt compelled to share a testimony of how God has provided in a big way for KB and I recently.  KB just shared the praise with our church family yesterday, but it's amazing how God can do one thing, but have it affect two people differently - even though those two people share the same life together.

For a while now, I have been reading blogs and doing research on how we can be better stewards of everything that God has given us.  From our finances, to our material possessions, to our children - but the area where we need the most help with is our finances.  Being a one income household, money is usually tight.  We knew this would be the case with only one person working, but we strongly believe that my place is at home right now.

We have been trying to cut back as much as we can wherever we can - live more simply and remain faithful in tithing and giving.  On paper, our budget looks ok.  I have followed Dave Ramsey's principles and allocated every single dollar that we make into a specific category of our budget.  But things come up, money needs to be spent, and right before every pay period, we find ourselves scraping to make it to the next pay check.

KB and I have been racking our brains to try and figure out a way to meet our needs.  I even updated my resume because KB's company had an opening.  In the end, we both knew that wasn't what God wanted me to do.  He has shown us numerous times that I need to be home and focus on our family, and we both wanted to stay faithful to that.

So we have been praying.  Praying to build up our faith that God will provide.  Not necessarily provide in a way that He would bring more money in, but we trusted that some way, somehow, God would give us our daily bread.  We prayed this prayer, not really expecting anything to really change, but trusting that we would be ok.  We were trying everything in our own power to change our situation ourselves, but never really went to God and honestly asked him for what we needed.

But my God is an amazing God!  When He steps in, He does so in big ways.

I received an instant message from KB one morning telling me that his boss had asked him if he would like to manage his IT team - he was being promoted to manager!  When he told me the news, it was unbelievable.  It was something that we never thought would be possible now, or even in the next few years.  It never even crossed our minds that God would meet our needs in this way.

Like I said earlier, we prayed prayers to strengthen our faith in Him, but never asked God for something like this.  But that's the amazing and humbling part of it all.  Even though we never depended on Him to pull through in a big way like this, He did.  He knew exactly what we needed and provided in a way that we never expected.

KB expressed to our church family yesterday that he believes that if you are faithful in giving God His portion, He will provide.  I believe that if you are faithful to the things that God has called you to do, He will make sure that your needs are met.  KB and I strongly believe in me being a SAHM while our kids are young and impressionable.  We may have little to no savings, save up for 3 years to take a one week vacation, drive lunkers for cars, and buy last season's clothes to wear next year, but we want to stay faithful to what we believe is best for our most important possessions from God - our children.

God is amazing.  It humbles me that He sees little ole me's struggles and meets my needs in big, unexpected ways.  I just wanted to share my side of KB and my testimony and give glory to God for loving us so much!

Hopefully I can be more consistent with posting on here.  I'm already excited about coming back to this post in a few months, re-reading it, and remembering all the joy and gratitude I feel right now as I write it.

Praying you have a great start to a new week!

  1. This is such an inspirational testimony of God's faithfulness. His love is evident all the time to those who believe. It's so easy for me to be worried about our future, particularly now that we have Ash. I know that God is calling me to cling to His promise of provision. I have to be diligent in being a good steward particularly when it's so easy to be selfish or have misguided priorities. Thank you for sharing and challenging us to stay committed. May we all be continuously be faithful in our giving. Will and I celebrate with you and KB in this wonderful news! Congratulations on his promotion.
